Willington on the Way May 2026
May Reflections from Willington
Well, here we are—May 2—and I believe everything is finally back in its proper place at the History Center and Bookshop. It has taken us a couple of days to recover from what can only be described as a truly spectacular Historic Willington Day.
By all accounts, we exceeded our expectations—both in attendance and in the support we received. It was a fantastic day from start to finish. What I enjoyed most was simply walking around, talking with visitors, and taking in their reactions. Time and again, I heard the same wonderful comment: “Wow, we didn’t know this was here!”
Well… they know it now. And from everything I heard, I have a feeling we’ll be seeing many of those faces again.
The weather gave us just about a perfect day, although we did get cut short by about an hour of rain. Truth be told, it was rain we desperately needed after such a long dry spell, so we’ll gladly take it—just maybe next time, after closing time!
I would be remiss if I didn’t say a few words about our incredible volunteers and organizers. The entire event was carried out beautifully. No disasters, no anxious moments—just a well-planned and smoothly executed day. That doesn’t happen by accident. It happens because of dedicated people who care deeply about what we are building here in Willington.
Our volunteers were professional, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable. The entertainment—from our talented bands to the many vendors—added a wonderful energy and charm to the day. All in all, I would give the entire event an enthusiastic A+ performance.
To everyone who played a part—thank you. You made it a day to remember.
